The major drops happen at the beginning of comm. free. If you can be ready at 10:00am PST you can catch the drops on the major stocks.
Then buy back a couple of hours later. Or - you can ride it out and most of them recover by the afternoon. I used to play the drops under the old system, but can't keep up now, so I pretty much ignore Saturday mornings except for IPOs and port cleanup.
