LOL...okokok...Caddyshack is up there...but it is GOLF...note the absence of some great baseball flicks, too...sort of my resistance to
watching paint dry. 
As far as game play goes:
How did I make that much money and run ports to decent results? By not forgetting how to make the almighty fake $. When I got to 100m, I told myself that if I was going to keep playing, I would play with all the strategies available so I could grow my port exponentially. I could get lazy and not grasp at the penny stocks, the options, the star bonds with 4% returns but my growth would not be as good. When I hit about500m, my port was big and I kept it streamlined so I could maneuver like a 300 to 400m port. That much fake money is cumbersome to me. And you know, I don't play every derivative in my big port now...too much to remember all the time. Just too much fake money and less free time to play the ga,me. So by running a fund, I can keep tabs on my strategies.
To invest a paltry H$10,000 to get almost 400% back, is a good investment. You could invest on Friday, and still see over 100% return for just 5 days.
There are sexier investments. I do those, too. And keep in mind, the paltry 14k will adjust to that 60,000+ tomorrow because the put hit bank.
As far as Bonds, you should be investing in bonds that adjust next week. There are some tutorials or you could just go to a site like Project Genome as they typically can point you in the right direction. The Ampersand site has some great pointers. You are right about Funds...the only good time to invest in most of them is when they have a good adjust on Sunday. One" must invest in fund" is The Star Bond Fund.

You should also check out the players board and ask questions and pick up strategy there. Really...get in on Bonds! You can make your Tuesdays (Holiday weekend Wednesdays) very very profitable.
