What's the cost difference between a digital vs. a non-digital film print?

I believe one film print can cost up to $2000, digital is a small fraction of that

the savings really come in with multiple print bookings since one drive can generally be used for 99% of screens in a megaplex

How long do you think it'll be before every first run theatre in the US go all digital? Anyone know the % that are all digital currently?

It's just over 50 now. 100 will obly be when studioa stop printing, but prints are already scarce for lower-grossing venues in certain cases

Wasn't there a story about there being a move towards all digital internationally? If so, it should happen sooner rather than later here too

There is a move everywhere. It will happen domestically long before internationally. Third-world sites are the only ones buying 35mm

Does that also apply when the movie is shot in digital? Or only if the original is on film?
