I was thinking 12 would make more sense, 13 is common for new series that may then the back 9 for 22. But they knew this was limited. {nm}

Each of the first 11 eps get 2 hours worth of Bauer mayhem crammed into 1 hour, before the real-time 2-hour finale gets it to 24. :-) {nm}

13 is a full season on cable for shows like Homefront.

season order does not always equal its eventual run. it might get canned before time is up.... anyone remembers why it

Again, this is not a new series. FOX is not going to bring 24 back and cancel it midway through.

Your point is only valid for order of NEW series. No chance they'll cancel a show like 24 halfway and leave viewers hanging.

It ran for eight seasons, so wasn 't cancelled. It got stale creatively toward the end and everybody felt it had run its course.

It varies, but yeah 13 is very common. Here, 24 was screaming for a 12 though. :-) I'm guessing Guild rules may make 13 better. {nm}

Maybe the contract standard allows the studio to lock up talent better for future seasons for example, when it's at least 13. {nm}
