Well, okay, good and serious answer, but

personally, I didn't find it interesting, and what was supposed to be beautiful merely annoyed me.

I'm not sure whether he had a point here. But I believe his own sexual orientation, unless I'm mistaken, shows through here. He seems to have little knowledge of women, or how it feels to actually love a woman. Instead, it appears to me he has some notion of women being like the image they send out whenever they feel rambunctious or need to vent a little, have some fun. Does he not understand the essential separation between their real ideals and attitudes, and the way they show off? Perhaps he would, if he had been an actual lover of women, and not of men (men being far more promiscuous, as has been documented, not least as far as the gay nightclub scene is concerned - btw, I meant to write promiscuous above as well, not nymphomaniac, but there's not that much of a difference.. )

I don't find Penelope Cruz that smashingly beautiful, and her character here was fully deplorable - a very self-centered, self-serving and bimbo-ish primadonna/diva of an actress.

I'd go into more detail, if not for the perils of serving spoilers, and for the fact that it's been almost 6 months since I saw it, so I may stumble.. :-)

I love the way you analysed the movie, though, and I'm sure Almodovar employed some deft touches (such as that car incident) that displayed once more his sophistication and vision, but it doesn't change my perception that this was more of a lazy exercise of his - perhaps to see whether he could get away with it?
