As the resident contrarian, I'm sure you'll find a way to disagree, but the 18-29 year olds who go see Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect recognize her. At least more than LLIU or OMUNN.
As I said, I'm not claiming she's a franchise, just that she's a bigger draw than the names you're throwing out there and I think that's the difference maker in casting more than race.
But I can't emphasize enough, this is a problem. There's no way to correct a flawed system when the flaws perpetuate the system. I would support seeing someone of minority status get the nod over her. I think it would be a smart choice.
Frankly, you could probably make a stronger argument if you pointed out that LLIU would have more appeal in the Chinese market, which helps drive a bottom line thinking as much as anything these days.
