completely agree with your comments. this is a tough one.
you've got the nostalgia angle, but I personally don't know a ton of women that were huge Ghostbuster buffs. that doesn't mean anything, there could be a huge female following for this film. however, let's assume this is majority male fanbase. this is one HUGE reason for so many trolls trashing the trailer.
like you, I personally didn't dislike the trailer, and even laughed at the chick wearing the hat in the scene.. said something like "Is it the wig or is it the hat". her comedy is quite likable.
but if guys keep trashing this online to purposefully kill it, that will scare a lot of guys/fans away. and with Bad Moms landing a great trailer, many females might wait for that to group up and go see two weeks later.
the hope it has now is for the families to embrace it with their kids, that marketing can turn it around, and that it is actually reviewed well.
