not at this level. Every remake/reboots gets some level of negative feedback simply because its a remake, but this is next level

Posted by: Moviesnob on May 18, 11:51 in response to adrenalin112's post and lots of those films get alot of hate. 22JumpSt was...

I mentioned in another post that this is the worst since Terminator 5, in terms of reaction simply to the marketing. But Terminator 5 never got the level of outrage that this is getting.

Also, they had to change. Bill Murray said no.

BMD: The Soft Sexism Of Hating On The New GHOSTBUSTERS Antibody May 18, 10:04

the jokes they're showing in the trailers would be equally unfunny if the cast was Kevin James and some SNL regulars {nm} slipping jimmy May 18, 10:07

Ghostbusters trailers are of equal quality to Pixels which also did not interest me {nm} RazorHawk May 18, 10:11

the question is.. Is GHST3 getting more fan hatred than say Pixels, even though they suck equally? andy007 May 18, 11:37

Couldn't possible be any other explanation... medv4380 May 18, 13:32

Because Star Wars had beloved characters returningfrom the trilogy plus OISAA and JBOYE, not a new all-female cast. {nm} Antibody May 18, 14:01

I was actually interested in seeing Pixels based on the early promos. Right up until they showed Adam Sandler. {nm} DTravel May 18, 13:39

Yup. Same here. Once I saw Sandler was in Pixels I wasn't much interested too. {nm} Baron_Darcon May 18, 16:01

It reminds me of the movie "Grown Ups" with female leads and Proton Packs. Not Funny. {nm} loveman3 May 18, 10:22

For me, it just looks super cheap and having a cast of SNL stars and Thor doesn't help. {nm} RamsFan2004 May 18, 10:26

So it reminds you of a movie that made a ton of money? {nm} shadowking May 18, 10:49

The first trailer got to 800k dislikes. Though this is better It'll still bomb since it not funny and not serious. {nm} Baron_Darcon May 18, 10:27

its interesting to me that folks are complaining about the film still and not talking about the issues the essay brings up {nm} Moviesnob May 18, 10:32

Maybe because this is supposed to be a 'Movie Board' and not 'Social Commentary. Perhaps the essay belongs on the 'Life Board'. {nm} hyperzeitgeist May 18, 10:35

no, Ghostbusters is definitely a movie {nm} slipping jimmy May 18, 10:37

wrong again! "What’s the latest buzz? Join the discussion about MovieStocks ®, the box office, and the movie industry in general. " Moviesnob May 18, 10:38

Must be really annoying for you that people only want to talk about what a crap movie this is and aren't really too bothered about being... hyperzeitgeist May 18, 10:44

its the level that hate that the movie gets that peaks my interest. And its clear from comments that there are some folks that are bothered Moviesnob May 18, 10:48

The issues the essay brings up do not apply to me - the essay said so... RazorHawk May 18, 11:00

but you still posted about your dislike in this thread (about how sexism is a motivation in outpouring of hate) Moviesnob May 18, 11:07

Devin is making a much more pointed argument, that it's the Angry Game Nerds using this as a pretext for their latest raging out slipping jimmy May 18, 11:13

yes, but its the why that's an underlying theme in a lot of "isms" - "Somebody made a Ghostbusters movie that isn’t for them." {nm} Moviesnob May 18, 11:16

pixels got plenty of hate, maybe not as much as ghost's is getting, & maybe its because ghost's is rebooting cherished nostalgia by... adrenalin112 May 18, 11:17

but all those reasons can apply to hundreds of other films. Lots of films are remakes. Lots of films have bad jokes & bad CGI Moviesnob May 18, 11:24

and lots of those films get alot of hate. 22JumpSt was getting plenty of hate prior to release. robocop got hate, the diehards get hate. adrenalin112 May 18, 11:45

not at this level. Every remake/reboots gets some level of negative feedback simply because its a remake, but this is next level Moviesnob May 18, 11:51

where are you finding this outrage at? From my perspective its par for the course. {nm} adrenalin112 May 18, 12:31

GHST3's trailer is the most disliked movie trailer on YouTube of all time. It's up there with Justin Bieber videos. RogerMore May 18, 12:43

because its had more views than pixels & FF4 combined. {nm} adrenalin112 May 18, 17:01

Did it get 25 x the # of combined views? Because it got 25 x the # of combined downvotes. {nm} RogerMore May 18, 17:59

im not going to click or read it, Cliffs? {nm} adrenalin112 May 18, 11:11

"You don't have to be sexist to dislike {GHST3}, but it helps." RogerMore May 18, 11:13

If the media keeps erroneously going on and on about the reason for people not liking this new GB being the all-female cast... Shrike May 18, 12:49

You're trying to assign blame when really it's just reaction to a ridiculously awful trailer. {nm} Hersheybar May 18, 17:02

I don't get the leap to sexism. Yes, more men are vocal about hating this concept. Fanboys are the target audience, no matter the cast. leo21 May 18, 17:39

fanboys are not the only target audience. Studio films aim to get a wider audience. Moviesnob May 18, 19:29
