incorporating a variety of playstyles in order to appeal to the largest audience.

By eliminating the most popular one on this site, HSX has removed a significant amount of incentive.

When was the last time you sat down with a group of people to play a board game? That involves a significant time investment on your part, and no small amount of work during that time period. The "fun" does not necessarily come from the game itself, but rather the experience of playing with others.

Online simulations are by their nature solitary events, even if others are involved. Leaderboards are a metric for comparing your progress against others, but new players will likely never seriously compete at the highest levels.

Since their goals are different than the serious, dedicated playerbase, casuals have differnt needs when playing the game. Having a good chance at making a chunk of change once a week is a nice way of getting a positive mental "hit" and feeling as if they are accomplishing something positive in the game. Progression and positive feedback in the gaming loop keeps players/customers around.

Boredom and negative experiences will atrophy and kill the game outright, regardless of the handful of "serious, dedicated" players.

Yes, but for how long? They are complaining because the obviously DO care about the game, and are voicing their opinion of why it's not as BSmurf Mar 07, 07:52

Spot on BSmurf. You have summed up the situation so accurately. I agree totally. {nm} EarthMotherYTD2015 Mar 07, 08:04

Though is it a gambling fix they want or easy money? Saying this as someone who has basically stopped playing the game since the end of RogerMore Mar 07, 08:27

You've hit the nail on the head: it's now WORK. Not a game that someone can casually play in their spare time. Good gaming design involves BSmurf Mar 07, 08:39

Well said. diamondman56 Mar 07, 08:41

I think it was work before, but it was work that players wanted to do. Research movies, make predictions etc. RogerMore Mar 07, 08:54

I agree about "easy money" - which was mostly the result of the Saturday halts. Go back to Friday, and it's not so certain. {nm} BSmurf Mar 07, 08:59

The other easy money I'm talking about is the post-adjust short. {nm} RogerMore Mar 07, 09:37

Also, once you've reached the cash level (billionaire +) that we have, it's hard to remember what it was like not having any money BSmurf Mar 07, 09:04

I think they want it to be the kind of game that provides data that they can sell. Adjusts were preventing that Moviesnob Mar 07, 09:22

Then they should get rid of stocks altogether and IPO OW derivatives as soon as a project is announced. diamondman56 Mar 07, 09:51

I think you're half right. total domestic box is still more important than opening weekend but studio decay curves starting working based on Moviesnob Mar 07, 10:01

Good points Roger, but the bottom line is that HSX is trying to attract as many users as possible. So it doesn't really... tomcat90 Mar 07, 12:42

WOLV3.OW and .CA paid off 28+. p[retty good quick buck for your gambling fix. {nm} Antibody Mar 07, 09:35

WOLV3.OW halted at $79 which means that the OW was underpriced from its IPO. {nm} diamondman56 Mar 07, 09:43

Thanks, Captain Hindsight. {nm} Antibody Mar 07, 09:45

Well, that isn't the "quick buck" that you're claiming. It meant holding onto it for three weeks. diamondman56 Mar 07, 09:54

2 1/2 weeks is quick compare to MovieStockss been trading or months/yeaars. {nm} Antibody Mar 07, 10:01

And derivatives just don't have the sort of play that stocks do. There were multiple levels of play on stocks when there was halt/adjust diamondman56 Mar 07, 09:48

agreed {nm} eternal warrior Mar 07, 07:43

Simple Don't play the game. {nm} mike255 Mar 07, 09:30

I've only been playing a little over a year, and I agree the game is less fun and less challenging without the halt. {nm} the_treachery_of_images Mar 07, 10:16

Completely agree. {nm} Silent_Ben Mar 07, 11:27
