DC is really messed up right now...

Posted by: RazorHawk on Mar 30, 19:29 in response to ~JPV~'s post Outside of The Batman, is there any DC movie you aren't...

First they announced a full schedule of movies for the next few years

Man Of Steel 2; Suicide Squad; Wonder Woman; Justice League; Flash; Aquaman; Shazam; Cyborg; Green Lantern Corps; Justice League 2

Man Of Steel 2 morphed into Batman vs Superman and they released Suicide Squad.

Wonder Woman is coming this summer and Justice League this winter.

But,

Flash has lost 2 directors due to "creative differences" and it was announced at the beginning of the year that they are starting from scratch and writing a whole new script.

There are rumors that DC wants to ditch the Cyborg solo movie and smoosh him into the Flash movie and make it a buddy adventure movie.

Shazam had cast The Rock as the villain but cannot find anybody to play Captain Marvel (only CTATU could)

So,

DC has veered off track and their already announced movies are out of control and instead of fixing that problem, DC has announced a whole other slew of movies:

The Batman; Man Of Steel 2; Dark Justice; Nightwing; Black Adam; Gotham Sirens; Suicide Squad 2; Legion Of Superheroes; Booster Gold/Blue Beetle and now Batgirl.

DC has no focus and cannot juggle more than 2 movies at a time, but they keep announcing more and more projects.  This is what happened to DC in the first place.  They farmed out their characters to top level talent to make into movies and the top level talent either slacked off and didn't make the superheroes a priority and/or came up with different versions of the characters that DC/Warner did not agree with and the projects never moved forward (World's Finest; Wonder Woman; Adam Strange; Aquaman; Shazam; Teen Titans; Doom Patrol; Deadman; Lobo; Batman Beyond (live action); Super Max (Green Arrow in prison); Justice League...

When Marvel gained success creating a shared universe having the individuals superheroes team up in an Avengers movie, DC started reclaiming their characters from the top level talents that they farmed them out to saying that they wanted to make a DC shared cinematic universe also.  Now DC is right back where they started... their characters are getting farmed out to top level talents and the same thing is happening... the movies are not being focused on and/or top level talent is altering the characters and the projects are not moving forward.

V: Joss Whedon to write, direct, and produce a solo Batgirl movie [JWHED] Nigel_Ray Mar 30, 09:40

Too bad for Jena Malone who got cut from SUPE2. {nm} Antibody Mar 30, 09:43

I want it. {nm} Bronzey Mar 30, 12:06

cool...the first kick-ass costumed heroine (in TV or movies)...non-costumed, I think Emma Peel came before her {nm} tealfan Mar 30, 12:35

And there goes ScarJo's best shot at a Black Widow solo movie. Back to development ground zero. {nm} FranklynStreet Mar 30, 13:54

how come? {nm} CSBD Mar 30, 13:58

Yeah--I'd think that if this and WW make bank (and WW at least will), it would make a BW movie more likely {nm} CG63 Mar 30, 14:13

IDK, for some reason Marvel is resistent doing a BW solo movie. {nm} ~JPV~ Mar 30, 15:25

Luc Besson, an R-rating and some Russian dialog and I'm there! {nm} tealfan Mar 30, 17:13

I am doubtful that Batgirl will ever get made {nm} RazorHawk Mar 30, 17:15

Outside of The Batman, is there any DC movie you aren't doubtful will get made? {nm} ~JPV~ Mar 30, 18:16

DC is really messed up right now... RazorHawk Mar 30, 19:29

except Whedon has a $623M film and a $459M film on his resume...they may be looking at him as a savior {nm} tealfan Mar 30, 22:04

this. DCU is messy, but I think Whedon will get 'Batgirl' done. {nm} CSBD Mar 31, 08:07

Definitely piques my interest. {nm} columbia Mar 30, 20:19
