and how it doesn't spread. There are millions of Americans acting like zombies because they think that COVID spreads like you see in zombie movies. SOmeone gets bitten, they die, they turn into zombies themselves. It's not even remotely that nefarious. The biggest problem and it was addressed but only briefly cause it wasn't "sexy" enough for news outlets was making the difference between someone who is Asymptomatic and someone who is PREsymptomatic i.e. they've been infected but haven't shown any symptoms YET. According to Johns Hopkins, asymptomatic people are not nearly as infectious as thouse who end up showing symptoms and especially on the day they show symptoms. There are diferent amounts and degrees of infectiousness just as there are different amounts and degrees of how COVID affects those who are infected. Some kick it fairly easily, some have a harder time... and then some that just can't beat it and they fight and fight and many of them die.
It's kind of like cancer in that way.. and thank God cancer isn't infectious or we'd be totally ****ed.
But the point is that people are walking around like everyone they encounter a.) has COVID b.) is deeply infectious even if they are just walking past them on the sidewalk (nope... even in those circumstances, they say that two people need to be within 6 feet for almost ten minutes neither of them wearing masks for it to be a problem). But just like everything else, the news focuses on the negative and driving home their doom and gloom narrative that gets everyone excited and watching more news.
Fact is that yes, sometime in the next month or two, we'll end up hearing about some person who went to the movies when they were PRESymtomatic and then hopefully this happens in a place with contact tracing so they can find out from the theater who else was at the screening that they may have come in contact and then they might have to quarantine.
THAT is how you stop a pandemic... not sitting around your house cowering while watching some stupid crap on Netflix.... but no one from Netflix is gonna tell you that either.
