see this one first weekend.

this opening is playing like most any other family film which is not bad but the previous Shreks got all four quads in a big way.

Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers need a hit and fast.

glad they're done with the franchise.

oh and 2/2. {nm} lobogotti May 22, 05:30

I think going into the weekend, it was known that it lost a lot of the teen/college crowd with the last movie. secretstalker May 22, 05:41

My concern is that it might not actually play well with kids and parents RupertPupkin May 22, 05:51

I haven't seen it.. but it seems to be marketed well to kids/families with the commercials. secretstalker May 22, 05:54

Right--marketing for families has been fine. I'm talking about long-term playability for it, though RupertPupkin May 22, 05:57

was it worse than TFRM2, Poseidon and The Day After Tomorrow? {nm} lobogotti May 22, 06:04

TF2 and DAT are guilty pleasures. :) It was roughly on par with Poseidon. {nm} RupertPupkin May 22, 06:07

That's about right. secretstalker May 22, 06:10

Last Airbender has serious performance issues, though. Shyamalan is not an 'actor's director." RupertPupkin May 22, 06:20

Kinda ironic for a director who discovered under-20 Oscar nominees Haley Joel Osment and Abigail Breslin secretstalker May 22, 06:24

BTW, what do you think happened with MacGruber? secretstalker May 22, 05:55

Tracking on it was terrible. I don't think anything happened to it. Campaign was bad, stars are weak, and... RupertPupkin May 22, 05:59

its a 30-second sketch that they've already beat to death on SNL {nm} lapuckfan May 22, 07:20

i agree, and what really clued me into it was Dreamworks lowering their expectations to investors. they did not want mud on their face and lobogotti May 22, 06:01

Did DreamWorks lower their expectations? I thought it was a third party analyst. {nm} secretstalker May 22, 06:03

you are correct, i just glazed over the post and did not read the full article at the time... lobogotti May 22, 06:06

I saw a bunch of the ads, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what SHRK4 was actually about. Camera May 22, 09:35

If it was a "brilliant little piece of counter-programming," why did it flop miserably? {nm} RupertPupkin May 22, 11:37
