not sure it does mean much on IMDB, being told something has gone up 700% in popularity can be misleading..
...using an extreme example, that could be one person searching for it last week and eight people this week. % gains/drops on IMDB are hard to analyse unless you know what that gain/loss is rooted in.
A 700% gain in a big title would probably mean more.
