With the higher ticket prices and adding 3D premiums on top of that it is getting ridiculous

Posted by: Budd on Jul 13, 19:58 in response to ndmaster's post Is anyone else sick of ticket prices continuing to go up?...

Regular tickets here are $12.50, 3D is $15.50 and none of the Cineplex theaters have matinee prices either, only the lone Cinemark has matinees, $8 for the first show of the day, $9 any other shows before 5:30 and Tuesday and $12.50 evenings (add $3 to any show in 3D).

I was glad to see Despicable Me in 2D for $8, felt like a bargain.

Is anyone else sick of ticket prices continuing to go up? This is ridiculous! ndmaster Jul 13, 18:18

$9 for a matinee at our local AMC...ugh {nm} tealfan Jul 13, 18:36

Does anyone think it's fair considering how much it costs to run these huge buildings? {nm} Goines12 Jul 13, 18:48

Maybe theatres should learn how to... jgbaxter Jul 14, 10:21

I've lived in NYC for over 20 years and I don't ever remember ticket prices being that low. {nm} secretstalker Jul 13, 19:42

Tuesday matinee is 5 bucks with 1 dollar popcorn and 1 dollar drinks, Carmike in Stillwater, OK {nm} damenchipguy Jul 13, 20:24

we need to move to the midwest {nm} tealfan Jul 13, 20:51

We also have two hockey teams, an NBA team, a WNBA team, Urgh Oklahoma University and my Oklahoma State Cowboys! {nm} damenchipguy Jul 14, 09:28

7 bucks for an evening showing. and I think 3D is 10--a definite bright spot from the middle of nowhere. {nm} burnyrhousedown Jul 13, 21:05

Or you can just wait for it to come out on Netflix like I do =) {nm} MoneyMagnet Jul 13, 19:01

I haven't been to a theatre since Dark Knight. Don't know. {nm} AgentEvil Jul 13, 19:12

Matinée tickets at a restaurant/cinema in rich summer vacation area are 6.75. {nm} lukesed Jul 13, 20:31

tix cheap here, but wish gas would come down: drove an hour to see Good,Bad, Weird for $6, and 40minutes to see Ghost Writer for $2 :) {nm} islander Jul 13, 20:39

$5 every night in my theater $4 for kids TheSureThing Jul 13, 22:15

If you go frequently, I recommend buying Corporate Discount Tickets in bundles of 50. All the big chains have them, priced between $6-8. {nm} dsbman Jul 13, 23:10

I'm kind of sick of ticket prices on movies I short being so high... movies I go long on, I wish they were higher. {nm} secretstalker Jul 14, 02:42

Went for $5 yesterday (cheap Tuesdays...), normal price is 10$, + 3-4$ for the 3D supplement.... {nm} lukasck Jul 14, 06:01

$35 for two seats at the AMC Boston Common Imax screen to see Iron Man 2! {nm} swynne23 Jul 14, 07:14

What about postage prices going up 2 cents! It reeks of waste. {nm} laujer Jul 14, 08:05

$13 here in Calgary, Canada. So I find other ways to watch things that don't "need" a big screen (and my 42" works fine). {nm} jgbaxter Jul 14, 10:23
