Dern previously worked with Coppola in 1974 on "The Great Gatsby," which the latter wrote. The Oscar-nominated actor recently wrapped the indies "Choose" and "Inside Out," and will soon begin filming a big screen adaptation of "The Big Valley." I've long-considered Dern one of my favorite characters thanks to his performances in "Black Sunday" and "the 'burbs," and he continues to stand out playing Bill Paxton's kooky father on HBO's "Big Love."
