IMO, the Twilight "fad" is starting to pass.

Summit made a mistake by putting Eclipse in the summer. By the time Breaking Dawn P1 comes out, it will have been a year and a half since Ecllipse, and I think the fanbase (teenage girls, the driving force behind the "fad") will have moved on to the next big thing, whatever that may be. Perhaps Summit new this was going to happen, and that is why they released Eclipse over the summer, to milk the franchise before it dies.

What do you think will be the biggest opener in 2011? Iron Man 2 was the winner in 2010 HS-X Dec 13, 08:40

As long as they stick to a Friday opening, then yeah, probably Potter with Transformers or Pirates a close second. {nm} secretstalker Dec 13, 08:43

Potter... no. Twilight... no ( the last one will though ). My guess; TRFM3, PIRT4... + don't count out HNOV2 and the kiddies; RIO and CARS2 JMT Dec 13, 09:12

RIO is definitely not opening above both Potter and Twilight. tribefan695 Dec 13, 09:18

Also, why do you think the last Twilight will open big but the last Potter won't? The whole movie will be one big climax! {nm} tribefan695 Dec 13, 09:24

box office and dvd/bd sales have been remarkably consistent for all three films. There {nm} Moviesnob Dec 13, 10:58

there's no evidence its a fad {nm} Moviesnob Dec 13, 10:59

It's not a fad, it's a demographic. And since they are pounding them out, they are going to keep their audience until the end of the series Port Value League Admin Dec 13, 13:13

There is no way HNOV2 opens above $100 mil bloopster Dec 13, 10:56

yes way. ( confidently looking around ) {nm} JMT Dec 13, 11:05

It opens on Thursday. No R-rated film has ever opened above $100 million, let alone a Thursday opener. {nm} tribefan695 Dec 13, 11:36

PANDA2 has a better shot than RIO or CARS2 Dobies Dec 13, 11:13
