Starbonds who died (or officially retired) used to delist at $0.
That caused massive trading when a starbond died and the massive trading felf disrespectful so it was changed.
Starbonds who died were then cashed out at current price.
This caused confusion. Many players were not aware of the rule change so they massive traded for a $0 delist which caused the price to move which confused players who took no action waiting for a delist at current price (and not have to pay a commission) and it confused other players who were holding the starbond for an upcoming adjust. So it was changed.
Starbonds who died were halted if they had an upcoming movie and then were adjusted and delisted.
Players liked this idea but there was concern of it being disrespectul to keep a deceased starbond on the market for a long period of time for an upcoming adjust. So it was changed.,
Starbonds who died were halted if they currently had a movie in release and then were adjusted and delisted with that movie and if they did not have a movie in release then they were delisted immediatly at current price.
Players liked not having the deceased starbonds on the market for long periods of time, but felt it was unfair and/or confusing that players were invested for an upocoming adjust and got nothing for the investment. So it was changed.
Starbonds who die are currently halted as soon as HSX finds out and are usually delisted that day at current TAG.
The halting as soon as HSX finds out is an attempt to stop massive trading of a deceased starbond and the delisting on the same day (that HSX finds out about it) keeps it respectful. (People from all walks of life play HSX, including people who work in Hollywood and might of had relationships/worked with the deceased starbond)
Each time a starbond dies, there are posts about the rules and talk about the rules and all the above changes I think came about at the time/because a starbond died.
I think HKEDG was debated the most because some players wanted the big adjust for Dark Knight but HSX decided on the rule halt and adjust if a movie is currently in release or delist at current price if they do not have a movie in release (the one in bold above).
