Feedback & Support
I personally like the game the way that it is. The change you are proposing would damage the "fun" of the game in ways that I have not seen mentioned yet. HSX made this BETA version because they wanted the game to be more social but now you are proposing to eliminate two of the biggest social events: The weekend halt and weekend adjust.
Gut checks would no longer exist. There would be no telling who knows what they are talking about (box office related) since there would be no adjusts (punishment for guessing wrong/reward for guessing right). EAP GOD would be obsolete. Calls/Puts would be gone. Players would not huddle at HSX on Sunday mornings waiting for adjusts. Weekends would just be a non event here.
Commission free weekends were eliminated because of the votility that it had on the stock prices and that there were so many random movements that did not make sense. Now each and every post (whether reliable or not) will cause volitle movement with the stocks. Someone in New York posts about sold screenings and prices go up and an hour later someone in Los Angeles posts that the theaters are dead and the prices go down. BOM will post a certain number that will affect the price, then Finke will post a different number that will affect the price ...its like all the craziness of comission free weekends ...with the comission!
Opening stocks will be subject to manipulative posts when there is no HSX present for the entire weekend. Trolls, spammers and manipulation will run rampid.
Honestly, there is no reason to change the present version of HSX unless 1) Something is broken/An issue needs to be addressed or 2) It will make the game better. HSX has not indicated that this would fix something that is broken and I see in no way shape or form how this change would improve the game.
I joined HSX because I enjoy movies, talking about movies and talking about movies with people who know about movies. The gameplay of HSX puts us into competition and makes it fun.
I do not know what HSX is or is trying to be nowadays. First it was a game. Then it got painted orange, took away most of the gameplay and focused on being a social network. Then it started a premature Beta version promising better gameplay (which it has done). Now that a totally unrelated real money stock trading platform is being launched, HSX has first become its research tool. Now you are proposing that we start changing the entire site of HSX to basically become a free version of the Cantor Exchange?
I have not signed up for the Cantor Exchange because it is not appealing to me as a game. Taking away the HSX gameplay that I have enjoyed for 10 years is not going to send me to the Cantor Exchange (my wallet will not allow it).
If a change like this were to occur to HSX, I would most likely eventually frequent the HSX boards a little less (because they would be filled with complaints about the stocks being so volatile on the weekends, manipulative posts, and no HSX staff to moderate). I would probably grow tired of the situations and cash out on friday mornings and not play wide openers. Most likely would just focus on starbonds.
Soliciting Feedback: What if MovieStocks no longer halt and adjust during the opening weekend of a wide release?

You'd also get rid of the calls and puts, right? If you do, there won't be any more OW arbitrages.

I was wondering whether that would change once Cantor goes live... I'm not a fan of 24 hour real money exchanges... it's dangerous.

That's an interesting idea, though we would want HSX to mimic Cantor Exchange, with the idea you would migrate to real money. ;)

How about a shorter freeze, and eliminating the adjust? Even the NYSE freezes a stock when significant news is pending/announced
