Renovating an old farm house to make it as comfortable and energy efficient as a newly constructed modern home is very difficult, time consuming and expensive. In the end both may consist of the same material and provide the same results but at what cost.
Likewise, when HSX speaks of 10 year old technology, I assume they are not talking about the language use to code the site (the materials) but the structure of the code and the functionality it provides (the placement of walls, plumbing, ducts and wiring). I am a web developer and I have worked on website redesigns with multi-million dollar budgets. I know first-hand how websites well-crafted for their time can become confining and limit innovation as the art of web design marches ahead and offers new idea, better tools and more efficient/flexible coding principles.
There just comes a time when you have to admit the the old homestead has to be condemned, the cost and effort need to renovate far exceeds that need to just knock it down and build something new. Nothing last forever.
