The popular role-playing fantasy game comes to the big screen in a $30 million production filmed entirely in the Czech Republic.
Jeremy Irons plays Profion, a evil archmage bent on snatching the Kingdom of Izmer from the Empress played by Thora Birch. Profion manages to turn the powerful Council of Mage against the Empress and seize the royal rod of dragon control. Her only hope now lies a band of diverse characters who must retrieve a map and find the only other rod of dragon control. With the rod, the Empress would be able be summon a dragon army to battle Profion's dragon army.
First time writer/director/producer Courtney Solomon is living proof that dogged determination pays dividend in Hollywood. The long-time D&D fan began at the age of 20 a personal quest to turn the game into a movie. It paid off eight years later when his Sweetpea production company bought the rights to D&D from TSR. Solomon was then able to take creative control and helm the movie based on the highly popular game.
