Lionsgate Films is the largest independent film distributor in North America. The original Lions Gate production company was founded by Robert Altman in 1977 and was subsequently sold to investment firms. Lionsgate began to make its mark in 2000 and has grown by acquiring other film distributors such as Trimark, Artisan and Summit. LGF is known for distributing such controversial films as American Psycho, Dogma and Fahrenheit 9/11 before launching the franchises Saw and The Hunger Games.
Lionsgate Studio Fund will invest in films released domestically under Lionsgate, Summit, CBS Films and Pantelion.
Studio Funds delist and relist annually in September.
