the volume of shares held long increases and/or held short decreases, the stock prices increases. Seems logical, right? When comparing SCRM4 and RIO data from 3/26 to 4/2, I found the volume of RIO shares held long has increased by about 1.4M, shares held short has increased by about 470k, and the stock price has increased by more than H$7. The volume of SCRM4 shares held long increased by about 2.6M and shares held short increased by about 560k. Similar change in shares held short for the two but the increase in SCRM4 shares held long is almost twice that of RIO. You would think SCRM4 stock price would increase as well, but no, the price actually declined by about H$0.84 during the period. What am I missing?

Thanks for your thoughts. I had assumed that volatility played a role but the disparity between these two stocks was so big it piqued my OUsooner90 Apr 03, 06:43
