Hello friends, A lot of us look for definitions of ourselves, outside of us, for example, I am an electrician or I am a nurse, or this situation makes me angry or this situation makes me happy or so on, But this is very much like leaving the elephant at home and looking for it's tracks in the forest.
Where is you face (points to face), can you see your face? So how can you describe it, unless only as a reflection with all the blemishes of that reflecting service on it. If we attach labels, descriptions or ideas of us, to us, as permanent concepts then we will only bring suffering to ourselves and others, as ourselves are not out there, but are right here (pats chest) because we are impermanent and are always in a state of change. :) what a fun teaching this is. This is very much like leaving the elephant at home and looking for it's tracks in the forest.
As a devoted friend of mine, Sogyal Rinpoche, says ( he is devoted to me, he he he) The natural state of mind is calm, When you have a thought, yes? then there is a gap, before the next thought, Yes? EXTEND THAT GAP. That is the natural state of mind. That is meditation, in which we have no worries, no state of depression and so on. We should be able to drop negative emotions like a dirty tissue as they are impermanent states and not who we really are. Your laughter does not last forever nor should your anger.
Well I hope this helps lovies and darlings. Peace.
