Great post. In the last year, I've really enjoyed much of the streaming offerings. It takes something special to get me to the theater.

It doesn't have to be a superhero film; rather, I'm looking for a fresh take, a new idea, something that makes it feel like my hard earned money is worth going to.Ā  I used to visit the theater for something to do but Netflix, Hulu, etc are raising the expectation for Hollywood, I think.

the problem with comparing now to the 70's is there's growth in other revenue streams. Studios mitigate their loses through them and through Moviesnob Apr 27, 10:13

that was the DVD model until it died. use the extra revenue from home video to finance the "middle" and mitigate loss from big-budget flops slipping jimmy Apr 27, 10:31
