This will force many people to change their strategy for the game.
1) It will reduce the volume of transactions during weekends and with good reason. a) If you can not save money (free com) then why will you go and buy, sell, short or cover any stock during Saturdays and Sundays. b) since there will be not any more bloody Saturdays due to reshorting stocks there will be no bargains or reduction of price anymore for such stocks c) Considering that openers are halted normally during that period for what if any reason you need to even look at your port during the weekend.
2) As previously stated in other post re-shortening will decrease and with it the ability of some traders to free cash which they will normally use for more investing which in turn will decrease activity further.
3) It will become stupid for an user to "reset for losses" or clean its port since now it will be a waste of money. (I personally do this and while does not affect my net worth it helps me visualize).
4) It will affect the acquisition and any kind of trading of high value stocks or starbonds. It is kind of logic that you buy or sell or whatever your Harry Potters, Spiderman, Hobbit etc. during the weekend.
5) if no frequent other means for free trade is offered at a generous rate (which in practical sense is the same as free money) , it will decrease cash available for any user since every stock that you could possible buy now during that period will cost more in any transaction. Situation which will make stings stable, slow and possible boring since you will have to wait more time to do things (flips or any transaction) in order to avoid losses
6) It will affect the acquisition and any kind of trading of stocks or starbonds value at what is their expected delist or adjust price. Profit will be consumed by commission.
7) If this is an attempt to make HSX users more familiar with Cantor Exchange it will probably backfire since Rookies, any user will a small port or experience user that notices that their port are not growing at the same rate that before will eventually think that if they can not win fake money why they should try to risk real one.
Other considerations
8) Assuming this matters here, there is a good chance that traffic for this website decreases and with it, any advertising revenue that it may have during those days.
9) Some of the previous situation will be enhanced by what seems to be a reduction of the odds of winning at classic cash from the previous version which will make some of your users less receptive to the new changes that you are currently implementing and a possible new discussion of old vs. new could arise.
Users will start using the argument "you take away a lot of free cash and free comish, the old one have it, why not the new one, this sucks". While it may hurt the pride of someone in HSX, your first try for a new website was a catastrophic failure, a disaster among implementation. Completely rejected by the users. It was so bad that your forums were filled with negative feedback and you guys had to erase the forum (at least one time that I remember, I don't know if more or if you lock then later) because of that you had to return to the old version. Currently after a rough start the users are starting to accept many of those changes that you first try. Why will you want to introduce such an unpopular idea in the middle of an implementation specially after the majestic fiasco of the first one? It is just a timing issue.
10) While I am not completely sure, I think that one of the leading online stock retailers companies have the concept of free trading day, I think is Tuesday though and not for everything. Well definitely they have free trades in play as incentive and a more flat rate scheme going on than the standard 1% of total price that HSX have. HSX could probably copy that scheme in name of realism if you guys want. Also there are other options to limit the cheaters influence on the market that can reduce this influence leaving this to "whenever everything else fails then" scenario.
In short, I like the game and I probably will continue playing it and it is not like is my site so whatever the owner or the one that pays the salaries say goes, but I like it more with free comish weekends. Also I assume that you guys know what you do things and have your reasons.
